Lamborghini should make a front engine GT again.

I take it this beautiful interior goes with the car below it? Wow... Just wow. How many millions would I have shell out for that?

Looking through these photos, something occurred to me: Lamborghini never made it out of the 1980's. Hear me out.

The early Lamborghinis were incredibly classy. There weren't many cars of the day that had more presence and class than a DB5, but arguably the 350GT/400GT and Miura were among them.

Then came the excesses of the 1980's, never typified better than in the Countach. It exemplifies "more is better" — more HP, more louvers, more angles...

And if you look at Lamborghini's products since then, they're all essentially evolutions off the Countach theme. They're wild, mean, ferocious vehicles that pushed the limits of engineering. But classy?

If I remember correctly, the interior is from the 350; the car below is the 400 GT 2+2. Here's are some more shots of the 350 interior - it's strikingly modern and absolutely classy.

The original Countach appears to have evolved rather naturally out of the previous cars, but it ended up as you say: representative of the excesses of the 1980s.

It was Lamborghini's turning point, where they probably realized they could make more money with crazy than they could with classy .

I'm sure it'd be wonderful, but it just wouldn't fit with the rest of the product line. How would they sell it? Would any of their existing customers be interested?

And what would make Johnny Goldpockets buy a Lamborghini GT over an Aston Martin, Maserati, or any other of the established GT models out there?

Very nice, that interior does look slightly different from the one above. But still a beautiful interior. I like its simplicity.

Also a great angle on that exterior shot, thank you.

Why would they buy it? Because it's a Lambo, dude. Seriously, they might sell too many of them.

I think you're right - it's perhaps the 400 interior. Whatever, they're both beautiful.

Yeah, but many of the people who buy modern Lamborghinis might not be the same kind of people why serious GT cars. I'm not sure I would want one - it would either be too ostentatious, it would try to kill me - like all good Lamborghinis do - or perhaps, both!

These are not qualities I want in my GT car. I want sublime and classy. I want tons of manageable power with not too much noise. I want "smooth" in every sense. These are not things that Lamborghini does. I'm not saying they couldn't do it, but I guess just have trouble imagining them building Aventadors and Venenos while simultaneously doing a serious, sexy, and classy GT.
